Avalon ship in France

Avalon Waterways has launched its first-ever cruises in Bordeaux with the debut of its Bonjour Bordeaux: Châteaux, Wineries & Charming Villages itinerary.

Following an inaugural VIP sailing, the Avalon Artistry II has begun official departures, marking the company’s expansion into Southwest France.

The itinerary explores the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, featuring château visits, wine tastings, e-biking through vineyards, oyster sampling in Arcachon and time in Saint-Émilion. Guests can choose from various excursions as part of Avalon’s signature cruise experience.

“The wait is over and the wine is flowing – we are thrilled to officially embark on this new journey through Bordeaux,” said Pam Hoffee, president of Avalon Waterways. “With our first guests embarking their vacation today, we’re not just introducing a new itinerary, we’re elevating the experience of Bordeaux itself, offering immersive moments that blend history, culture, cuisine and discovery in every sip and step.”

The eight-day Bonjour Bordeaux itinerary can also be combined with cruises along the Seine, Rhône & Rhine Rivers for two- and three-week voyages.
