AIDA Cruises has completed the first of seven ship modernizations under its Evolution program with the AIDAdiva, which underwent a seven-week dry dock overhaul at the Chantier Naval Shipyard in Marseille, France, from Feb. 3 to March 21, 2025.
The company said in a press release that the overhaul included new technology, upgraded staterooms, new restaurants and expanded entertainment.
“As part of our AIDA Evolution initiative for the future, we have launched the largest fleet modernization program in our company’s history,” said Felix Eichhorn, president of AIDA Cruises.
“For the first three drydock overhauls alone, we are investing hundreds of millions of euros to make our ships fit for the future, both in terms of travel experience and technology,” he added.
According to the press release, six family-friendly suites and their sun decks have been built at the stern. In some suites, five-bed occupancy plus a baby cot is now available. Suite guests also have access to the Sky Deck and the Rossini Lounge.
The public areas on decks 9, 10 and 11 have been redesigned, and new restaurant and bar concepts have been added.
The Theatrium seating has been expanded with state-of-the-art sound, lighting and stage control technology.
The spa area has been adapted, and two additional wellness suites offer a private whirlpool tub, private sauna and waterbed. The hair spa has also been given a new design and features a nail spa.
A fun park has been added in front of the outdoor sports deck and The Kids Club has been redesigned.
According to the company, the AIDAdiva is offering a premiere cruise from March 23 to 30, 2025, featuring a seven-day Mediterranean voyage.
She will then offer two more voyages from Rome/Civitavecchia along the Italian coast and Malta.
The AIDAdiva will then head to its summer cruising area from Warnemünde, sailing on the Baltic Sea and in Norway.
In the fall, the AIDAdiva will embark on its first world cruise from Nov. 10, 2025, to March 23, 2026, from Hamburg to five continents and through 27 countries in 133 days.
For the first time on an AIDA world cruise, the east and west coasts of the USA and Japan are featured, with Hawaii featured for New Year’s Eve.
