SmartSea has announced that it strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Kris Vedat as chief technology officer.
Vedat said: “We have to learn from the advances made in digitalization within the aviation industry by SITA. Everyone in maritime should be sharing data collectively, which should become a reality soon as new regulations lead to a shift towards data standardization, as seen in other transport industries.”
“This creates a prime opportunity for SmartSea to help the industry revolutionize how companies operate in the future,” he added.
Formerly Head of Technology and Logistics at P&O Maritime Logistics, Vedat has work experience spanning over two decades in technology and logistics, the company said in a press release.
At P&OML, he oversaw technology and logistics operations, driving technological advancements and ensuring smooth IT operations.
Julian Panter, CEO of SmartSea, said: “I’m truly honored that Vedat has joined the team at SmartSea at such an important time in the company’s evolution.”
“Throughout his stellar career, his technological knowledge has been second to none. His in-depth industry knowledge will enhance our service proposition and position SmartSea as the partner of choice for those companies who embrace the opportunities of digitalization,” added Panter.
The company said that drawing from aviation’s evolutionary journey, SmartSea will use SITA’s expertise to drive innovation, efficiency and sustainability in maritime operations.
