The Seven Seas Splendor completed its fifth year of service for Regent Seven Seas Cruises in late January.
As a sister to the 2016-built Seven Seas Explorer, the 750-guest vessel was built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy.
Following a handover ceremony, the Seven Seas Splendor officially joined the Regent fleet on Jan. 30, 2020.
The 55,000-ton vessel then embarked on its maiden cruise a week later, offering a trans-Atlantic crossing from Barcelona to Miami.
While original plans for the ship’s inaugural season included itineraries on the West Coast and in the Caribbean, the deployment was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic.
After entering an extended layup due to the health emergency, the Splendor only welcomed guests back in September 2021.
Resuming its inaugural season, the vessel embarked on its first itineraries in Europe, offering itineraries to the British Isles and the Mediterranean.
A few months later, the Seven Seas Splendor returned to the Caribbean for its first winter season in the region.
Regent later deployed the vessel in a wider variety of sailing regions, including the coasts of Africa and South America.
As part of its 2024-25 winter season, the ship is currently sailing in the latter, offering ten- to 19-night cruises to Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and more.
In mid-March, the vessel is scheduled to reposition to Europe for a series of summer cruises in the Mediterranean.
In early September, the Splendor arrives in North America for a fall foliage season that includes itineraries to destinations in the St. Lawrence Seaway, the Canadian Maritimes and New England.
After completing the deployment, the ship sails to the Caribbean before returning to South America for the 2025-26 winter.
The Seven Seas Splendor was later followed by a sister ship, the Seven Seas Grandeur, which entered service in 2023.
