The next Icon Class ship will carry the name Legend of the Seas, Royal Caribbean International said in a press release.

Currently under construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard, the 250,800-ton vessel will debut in the Western Mediterranean in July 2026.

Following a summer season in the region, the new Legend of the Seas repositions to the Caribbean for six- and eight-night cruises departing from Port Everglades.

“On the heels of celebrating one year of the record-breaking Icon Class and the memories made by vacationers of all ages on Icon, we are thrilled to announce the name of Royal Caribbean’s third Icon Class vacation,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International.

“Legend of the Seas is the next bold step in this exciting era of vacations and the continuation of the Icon Class legacy, and we look forward to bringing the revolutionary lineup of experiences to more families and adventurers across Europe, the Caribbean and beyond,” he added.

Crown & Anchor Society loyalty members will have special access to book ahead of the official opening on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025.

As part of its maiden season, the Legend of the Seas will offer seven-night cruises to France, Italy and Spain that sail from Barcelona.

In November, the 5,610-guest ship repositions to Fort Lauderdale for six-night cruises to the Western Caribbean and eight-night cruises to the Southern Caribbean.

Every sailing in the region will feature a visit to Royal Caribbean’s private destination in the Bahamas, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Other ports of call for the ship’s deployment in the Caribbean include Oranjestad, Aruba; Falmouth, Jamaica; and Willenstad, Curaçao.

According to Royal Caribbean, the new Legend of the Seas will offer lineup of Icon Class highlights including Crown’s Edge, a thrill ride that is part skywalk and part ropes course, and the largest waterpark at sea, Category 6.

The ship will also offer a proven lineup of industry-leading environmental programs, the company added, which include an LNG-powered propulsion system.

Royal Caribbean’s Icon Class includes the Icon of the Seas, which entered service in January 2024, and the Star of the Seas, which is set to debut in August 2025.
