Norwegian Appoints Derek Lloyd to VP Role

Derek Lloyd

Norwegian Cruise Line has appointed Derek Lloyd as vice president of strategic and national accounts.

He succeeds Brennan Quesnele, who will become senior vice president of sales at Oceania Cruises, effective Feb. 24, 2025.

The company said in a press release that Lloyd will be responsible for driving national account sales with various travel partners and accounts in the U.S. and Canada.

He will also foster new and existing partner relationships and develop strategies to achieve sales growth, overseeing a team of sales leaders.

“I am very excited for Derek to take on this new role as vice president of strategic and national accounts,” said John Chernesky, senior vice president of North America sales at Norwegian.

“Brennan has done an incredible job at facilitating the growth of this division, and I couldn’t think of anyone else who can step into his role than our very own Derek Lloyd. Derek has been instrumental in strengthening our engagement with thousands of partners across North America, and I am confident with his experience and passion that he will continue to lead the sales team to new heights,” added Chernesky.

“With over 20 years at Norwegian Cruise Line, I’m truly honored to be taking on this new role,” said Lloyd. “I look forward to continuing to strengthen our relationship with our travel partners as well as our commitment to being the easiest cruise line to do business with.”

“It is such an exciting time for the company with the 20th ship in the fleet, the Norwegian Aqua, debuting this spring, and the Norwegian Luna in March 2026 as well as the recent launch of our all-new ‘Experience More’ brand positioning and value driven More At Sea offer, there is so much for our travel partner community to look forward to in the future,” added Lloyd.

According to the press release, Lloyd has over 30 years of experience in the cruise industry and almost 25 years with Norwegian Cruise Line. He most recently served as vice president of field sales for North America, where he was responsible for the company’s sales strategy and cultivation of key partner relationships.

Lloyd has been involved in sales and business development functions in the U.S. and Canada, including contract negotiations, tour operator and consortia account management, as well as customer relationship development.

Norwegian Cruise Line said that it will appoint a new vice president of field sales to replace Lloyd’s role in due course.
