Captain Kate McCue announced on her Instagram that she is leaving her post at Celebrity Cruises.

“I’ve spent the last 22 years on 11 ships in the Royal Caribbean Group, from 2nd Officer to Captain,” said the American captain. “I have seen some of the most beautiful places, met inspiring and wonderful people, and had opportunities to live my 12 year-old dream out loud!

“This video serves as a small glimpse into moments that am forever grateful for. It is memories of those who made an impact on this journey and who will live forever in my heart.”

She said that she recently had some big life changes, and her decision to leave Celebrity was part of that, according to the Instagram post.

“Are my sailing days over? Absolutely not! I’ve got too much salt in my veins to leave the sea behind. So consider this…the start of the Captain’s Log: New Seasons!”
