Volendam Sets Sail on Holland America’s Pole-to-Pole Grand Voyage

Volendam

The Volendam has departed Port Everglades to kick off Holland America Line’s new Pole-to-Pole Grand Voyage.

As the longest cruise set to be offered by the company this year, the 133-night voyage is set to visit 68 ports across five continents and 26 countries.

The cruise sails to the Caribbean, South America, Africa, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Greenland, Canada and the U.S. East Coast.

The new grand voyage is highlighted by scenic cruising in Antarctica, as well as visits to the Amazon and a transit of the Panama Canal.

Before returning to Fort Lauderdale in early July, the Volendam is also scheduled to reach the North Cape in Norway.

Among the ports of call set to be visited by the ship are Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Ushuaia in Argentina, Dakar in Senegal, Casablanca in Morocco, Barcelona in Spain, IJmuiden in the Netherlands and Honningsvag in Norway.

Other destinations featured in Volendam’s itineraries include Reykjavik in Iceland, Paamiut in Greenland, Halifax in Canada and Boston.

In addition to a special enrichment program onboard, the sailing is also highlighted by a special appearance of chocolatier Jacques Torres.

The Pole-to-Pole Grand Voyage is one of two world cruises being offered by Holland America Line in 2024-25.

Earlier this month, the Zuiderdam sailed from Fort Lauderdale for a traditional around-the-world itinerary that will sail to 49 ports in 30 countries across six continents.

On April 24, the ship is scheduled to meet the Volendam in Barcelona for a joint overnight call, bringing the two Grand Voyages together for a celebration.

According to Holland America, special festivities involving both ships will mark the occasion of the planned dual visit.

The event will include a Grand Meetup dinner featuring a chocolate globe, a creation by Chef Torres, representing the world-spanning journey of the two ships.
