SeaDream Yacht Club announced it is now allowing guests to book sailings using Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and over 200 other cryptocurrencies, according to a company update.
The announcement came during the opening day of WAGMI Miami, the annual cryptocurrency and blockchain conference.
“SeaDream has always been an innovator, setting new standards in luxury travel. By accepting cryptocurrency, we are embracing a payment solution that is increasingly sought after by our guests,” said Andreas Brynestad of SeaDream Yacht Club.
SeaDream is partnering with Coinbase Commerce to facilitate secure and efficient transactions.
“The strength in our community rests in the ability to foster groundbreaking partnerships. Working with a trailblazer like SeaDream Yacht Club brings together two true pioneers paving the way for others to follow”, said Moe Levin, founder of WAGMI Events.
“SeaDream is not only the first cruise line but also the first major travel company to accept cryptocurrency – setting a new standard for the future of travel and payments and that’s why we’re proud to welcome them to our stage.”
SeaDream is also integrating a cryptocurrency payment option on its website, SeaDream.com. The digital payment solution is expected to launch in the coming weeks.
SeaDream will also be the first cruise line to accept cryptocurrency as payment for full-yacht charters.
“This underscores our commitment to staying ahead of emerging trends. For us, crypto is the natural next step forward,” added Brynestad.
“The ability to use cryptocurrency further adds to the convenience and flexibility of our discerning charter guests, eliminating currency exchange challenges and enabling seamless transactions.”
