Set to leave Carnival Corporation’s fleet next month, the Pacific Explorer is embarking on its final cruise from Melbourne today.
After completing a series of roundtrip cruises from the port, the vessel is now offering a repositioning voyage to Fremantle.
The one-way cruise sails to three destinations in Southern Australia: Adelaide, Albany and Margaret River.
Upon arriving in Fremantle in early February, the Pacific Explorer offers a four-night cruise to Exmouth before embarking on its farewell cruise.
With P&O Cruises Australia’s operations being absorbed by Carnival, the vessel will be handed over to Resorts World Cruises in mid-February.
Sailing to Singapore, the ship’s final cruise is scheduled to depart from Fremantle on Feb. 7, 2025, and includes visits to destinations in Southeast Asia.
Two ports of call are set to be visited as part of the 11-night itinerary: Lombok in Indonesia and Langkawi in Malaysia.
After completing the cruise, the Pacific Explorer is expected to be delivered to its new owners in Singapore.
Before emerging as the Star Scorpio, the 1997-built vessel is scheduled to undergo a major refurbishment that will include updates to its technical and hotel aspects.
Joining the Genting Dream and the Resorts World One, the ship will offer cruises in Southeast Asia for Resorts World Cruises starting in March.
As part of its maiden season, the vessel sails from Singapore and Indonesia for three- to five-night itineraries to Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
The ship has operated as the Pacific Explorer since 2017 and originally launched service as the Dawn Princess in 1997.
As part of P&O Australia’s wind down, the Pacific Adventure and the Pacific Encounter will be transferred to Carnival Cruise Line.
The vessels will join the Carnival Splendor and the Carnival Luminosa in the company’s Australia-based fleet, offering year-round cruises from Sydney and Brisbane.
