The Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipyard is nearing the completion of the assembly of Adora Cruises’ next newbuild.
As the second large cruise ship built in China, the new 5,232-guest vessel is scheduled for delivery in late 2026
According to local media reports, the hull of the ship, currently known by its shipyard name H1509,is now 95 percent complete.
Earlier this month, the bridge of the vessel was positioned as part of an operation that mobilized various technical teams.
In an update, the shipyard stated that the placement of the section involved the installation of glass windows and the removal of the bridge wing’s scaffolding.
The Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipyard also began setting up the operating and steering systems on the bridge.
Following the debut of the Adora Magic City in 2024, the new ship will be named Adora Flora City for service in the Chinese market.
According to Adora Cruises, the name of the 2,130-cabin vessel pays homage to its future homeport—the town of Guangzhou.
Once in service, the ship is expected to offer cruises departing from the Flower City.
Designed to serve the domestic market in China, the Flora City will be slightly larger than its sister ship, Magic City.
In its interiors, the 141,000-ton vessel will feature enhanced public areas, more suites, a spacious atrium, and cultural elements inspired by the Silk Road and Lingnan heritage, Adora explained.
In addition to the two newbuilds, the company also operates the Adora Mediterranea, which was originally built for Costa Cruises in the early 2000s.
In 2025, Adora’s ships are scheduled to sail from various homeports in China, including Shanghai, Qingdao and Guangzhou.
