Disney Treasure Kicks Off Maiden Season

Disney Treasure in Nassau

The Disney Treasure welcomed its first paying guests on Dec. 21, 2024.

Sailing from Port Canaveral, the LNG-powered vessel offered a seven-night cruise to the Eastern Caribbean and the Bahamas for its maiden cruise.

In addition to Disney’s private destination of Castaway Cay, the itinerary also featured visits to St. Thomas and Tortola.

Continuing its inaugural season, the Treasure continues to offer seven-night cruises to different destinations in the Caribbean.

Sailing from Port Canaveral on Saturdays, the deployment also includes visits to Cozumel in Mexico, George Town in the Cayman Islands, Falmouth in Jamaica, San Juan in Puerto Rico and more.

As the second in a new series of ships that started with the Disney Wish in 2022, the Disney Treasure was built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany.

Following its delivery, the vessel crossed the Atlantic with no guests onboard ahead of a series of pre-inaugural activities.

The schedule culminated with a christening ceremony that took place in New York City on Nov. 21, 2024.

Taking place on the Hudson River, the waterfront celebration included a tribute to the stories and characters brought to life by a synchronized showcase of 1,000 drones.

The event also featured a lightshow with Disney adventures represented on the new ship, including scenes from “Aladdin,” “Haunted Mansion,” “Moana” and “Coco.”

Continuing its fleet expansion strategy, the Treasure will be followed by a third sister ship, the Disney Destiny, in late 2025.

Meyer Werft is set to deliver a vessel with a similar design for Japan-based Oriental Land Company in 2028.

As part of a newly announced deal, the German shipyard is also scheduled to build a new class for Disney Cruise Line, with four ships scheduled for deliveries between 2027 and 2031.
