The Costa Deliziosa recently arrived at Rio de Janeiro’s Pier Mauá Cruise Terminal as part of Costa Cruises’ 2024-2025 world cruise.
After kicking off the 130-night voyage in Italy in late 2024, the vessel arrived at the Brazilian port for an overnight visit on Dec. 30, 2024.
According to Pier Mauá, the ship brought over 3,000 visitors to Rio de Janeiro, including guests and crew members.
After departing from the cruise terminal, the Costa Deliziosa sailed to Copacabana for the town’s fireworks display.
Along with five other vessels, the ship anchored in front of the beach for the 12-minute traditional New Year’s Eve celebration.
Before arriving in Rio de Janeiro, the Deliziosa also visited other destinations in Brazil, including Recife and Maceió.
Now cruising to additional countries in South America, the ship is scheduled to sail to nearly 50 ports of call before returning to Europe in mid-April.
Other destinations set to be visited in the region include Buenos Aires and Puerto Madryn, Argentina; Montevideo, Uruguay; and Puerto Williams, Chile.
After sailing around Cape Horn, the itinerary continues with visits to destinations in Patagonia and the South Pacific.
Ports of call include popular tourist spots in French Polynesia, Fiji, Cook Islands, Australia and New Zealand, such as Papeete, Suva, Sydney and Tauranga.
The Costa Deliziosa is then set to arrive in the Indian Ocean for visits to destinations in Mauritius and Madagascar, including Port Louis and Tamatave.
Making its way back to Italy, the itinerary also includes several stops on Africa’s West Coast, including ports of call in South Africa, Namibia and Cape Verde.
After visiting additional destinations in the Canaries and the Mediterranean, Costa’s 2024-25 world cruise is set to end in Trieste.
The vessel is then set to offer a summer program in the Adriatic and the Aegean before kicking off a new global sailing in late 2025.
