For 2025 Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP) is expecting over 1 million guests and over 400 calls.

Copenhagen expects to welcome 850,000 passengers across 295 calls, including 107 turnaround calls. Visby is projected to welcome 172,000 passengers across 105 calls. The year will also feature 14 maiden calls.

This follows on a strong  2024, which saw impressive cruise passenger numbers, surpassing projections with nearly 1 million guests across Copenhagen, Visby and Malmö.

Copenhagen welcomed over 818,000 passengers, Visby nearly 170,000 and Malmö 1,700. The total number of calls was 280 in Copenhagen, 102 in Visby, and three in Malmö. 106 of the calls in Copenhagen were turnaround calls. The city also hosted 26 overnight stays and achieved a milestone by hosting calls every month of the year for the first time.

The year also saw a number of inaugural visits, with nine maiden calls in Copenhagen and 11 in Visby. Copenhagen was recently named Europe’s Leading Cruise Port at the World Travel Awards.

“While extremely satisfied with the year 2024 that exceeded expectations, we look forward to yet another exciting year ahead in 2025, with a solid and increasing number of calls and passengers expected in Copenhagen and Visby, as well as the inauguration of Copenhagen’s major cruise shore-power facility. A strong cruise sector and an extensive cruise season means positive economic impact for the local business and communities,” said Luis De Carvalho, commercial cruise director at Copenhagen Malmö Port.

One of Europe’s largest shore-power facilities will begin operations in Copenhagen recently with five connection points at Oceankaj and Langelinie to allow ships to turn off auxiliary engines while docked. The facility is expected to reach full capacity by 2028.

The Langelinie terminals will reopen in 2025 after extensive renovations, including shore power and sewage connections.
