Ambassador Cruise Line’s Ambition recently arrived in Cuba as part of a 45-night cruise to the Caribbean.
After departing from the United Kingdom in early January, the ship docked in Havana for a three-day call on Jan. 27, 2025.
As the only mainstream cruise ship scheduled to visit Cuba this season, the Ambition arrived in the country for the first time.
In addition to Havana, the 1999-built vessel is scheduled to sail to Santiago de Cuba before visiting additional destinations in the Caribbean.
According to CiberCuba, a plaque exchange ceremony was held onboard the ship, with its captain and local authorities on stage to celebrate the inaugural call.
The Ambition started its cruise to the Caribbean and the Atlantic on Jan. 9, 2025, at the port of Tilbury, England.
As part of the month-long itinerary, the 1,358-guest vessel is also scheduled to visit a wide range of destinations in both regions.
Before returning to the UK, the Ambition sails to ports in Portugal, the Azores, Madeira, St. Kitts, Jamaica, Curaçao, Barbados, Tobago and more.
Earlier this month, Plantour’s Hamburg also visited Cuba as part of its winter season in the Caribbean and South America.
The 420-guest vessel visited six destinations in the country, including Havana, Cayo Largo, María La Gorda, Cienfuegos, Santiago de Cuba and Antilla.
Ambassador Cruise Line is set to return to Cuba in early 2026, with the Ambience visiting Havana in mid-February.
The larger ship arrives in the country as part of a 40-night cruise to the Caribbean that sails roundtrip from Tilbury.
After returning to the itineraries of various cruise lines in 2016, Cuba faced another travel ban from the U.S. government in 2019.
With American-owned ships not allowed to visit the country, Cuban ports have only received Europe-based ships in recent years.
