Adventure Canada to Operate New Ships in 2026

  • January 30, 2025
Exploris One

Adventure Canada will operate two new-to-them vessels starting in 2026, the company announced in a press release.

Replacing the Ocean Endeavour, the Exploris One and the Ocean Nova will debut in time for the next summer season in the Arctic.

With a capacity of 144 and 78 guests, respectively, the ships will offer increased comfort as well as a more intimate experience, the company said.

“We are thrilled to be operating on the Exploris One and the Ocean Nova for the 2026 season and beyond,” said Cedar Swan, CEO of Adventure Canada.

“These ships set the foundation for adventure perfectly, with the facilities and capability to operate in challenging Arctic conditions safely while facilitating meaningful, educational, and fun-filled programs in the most beautiful and moving places in the world,” he added.

The ships are equipped with enhanced shipboard facilities, Swan noted, and allow the company to continue to offer its shore-side experiences.

“They truly offer us the best of both worlds, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome our guests to these vessels in 2026,” he said.

According to Adventure Canada, operating two ships will allow the company to offer more trips, with a “small but steady” increase in trips offered in 2026 and beyond.

Key considerations in selecting both vessels included an analysis of their carbon footprint and environmental impact, Adventure Canada said.

In addition to looking for a proven track record of safety and experience operating in ice and Arctic conditions, the company also focused on guest comfort and capacity.

Currently sailing for Exploris, the Exploris One was operated by Silversea Cruises until 2023 and was built for expedition travel in 1989.

According to the company, the ship is well-suited for polar environments and comfortable exploration, having undergone several refurbishments.

In addition to offering well-appointed staterooms and public areas, the Exploris One is outfitted with a fleet of Mark V zodiacs to get guests from ship to shore quickly and efficiently, Adventure Canada said.

New for 2026, Adventure Canada will include Wi-Fi access and standard alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages on all trips onboard the Exploris One.

The company will work in partnership with expedition travel company and ship owner Exploris to operate the vessel.

“We are absolutely delighted with this strategic partnership with Adventure Canada,” said the President of Exploris and Co-Founder of Ponant, Philippe Videau.

“This collaboration represents a tremendous opportunity to combine our expertise and shared vision to provide unforgettable experiences for all passengers. Adventure Canada shares our core values, including responsible exploration, authentic discovery of destinations, and respect for local cultures,” he added.

In 2026, the Exploris One will offer eight expeditions for Adventure Canada, with itineraries that explore Scotland, the North Atlantic, Iceland, Greenland, the Northwest Passage, Labrador and more.

Built in 1992 for service in Greenland, the Ocean Nova is described by the company as a “comfortable vessel born for expedition travel.”

Designed for efficiency, function and an intimate experience, the 45-cabin ship is equipped with a shallow draft and a fleet of eight zodiacs.

Adventure Canada will work together with Nova Logistics to operate the vessel, which is also highlighted by public areas that include a panoramic observation lounge and a fully equipped gym.

According to the company, the Ocean Nova sails with a lighter carbon footprint than most expedition vessels, which was an important consideration in its selection.

“Nova Logistics is thrilled to return the Ocean Nova to the Adventure Canada family,” said Richard Del Valle, president of Arctic Shipping at Nova Logistics.

“Adventure Canada’s legacy of true expedition cruising is a perfect match to Ocean Nova’s robust capabilities, the skill of her highly experienced onboard team, and her small environmental footprint. We are looking forward to many new and exciting adventures together.”

In 2026, Adventure Canada will offer six expeditions onboard the Ocean Nova, including itineraries to Scotland, the North Atlantic, Iceland, Greenland, Labrador and Newfoundland.
