The Carnival Panorama is marking five years of service this month after being delivered to Carnival Cruise Line in late October 2019.
Built by the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, the 4,000-guest ship is part of the company’s Vista Class series, which also includes the Carnival Vista and the Carnival Horizon.
As the first new Carnival ship to debut in Southern California in over 20 years, the ship sailed from Europe with no guests onboard, circumnavigating South America before arriving in its homeport: Long Beach.
The Carnival Panorama was then christened by its godmother, TV hostess and personality Vanna White, during a ceremony onboard on Dec. 10, 2019.
After a three-night inaugural sailing, the vessel kicked off a year-round schedule of seven-night cruises to the Mexican Riviera on Dec. 14, 2019.
Departing from Long Beach every Saturday, the Panorama offered week-long cruises to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán and Cabo San Lucas during its maiden season.
Following the shutdown of the cruise industry during the Covid-19 pandemic, the vessel also made Carnival Cruise Line’s return to the West Coast in August 2021.
In Fall 2024, the ship debuted in new regions as part of two trans-Pacific cruises that sailed between the U.S. and Asia.
The first open-jaw itinerary sailed from Long Beach to Yokohama as part of an 18-night itinerary that also featured visits to Alaska and other destinations in Japan.
The second cruise departed from Singapore, sailing to Long Beach via Malaysia, the Philippines and Guam.
While in Asia, the Carnival Panorama underwent a drydock at the Tuas Shipyard in Singapore, which included routine maintenance and also updates to its public areas and cabins.
Still sailing from its homeport near Los Angeles, the Carnival Panorama is set to offer six- to eight-night cruises to the Mexican Riviera and the Sea of Cortez.
In addition to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán and Cabo San Lucas, the itineraries feature visits to Ensenada and La Paz.
