Princess Cruises has launched its new global advertising campaign, “Love Boat by Hannah,” featuring Ted Lasso’s Emmy-winning actress and musical theater professional Hannah Waddingham.
The cruise line announced in a press release that in the campaign, Waddingham reintroduced audiences to the TV theme song “The Love Boat.” Waddingham reimagined the song in the new ad campaign, adding a modern twist.
The campaign was filmed by acclaimed director Dave Laden of Hungry Man and created with the expertise of Princess Cruises’ agency of record, Terri & Sandy. Waddingham recorded her version at the Criteria Recording Studios in Miami.
“Waddingham brings something truly special to one of the most recognizable theme songs in television history and the Princess Cruises brand anthem,” said John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises.
Earlier this year, Waddingham was honored as the Godmother of the Sun Princess.
The campaign will roll out in 60-, 30-, 15-, and 06-second spots across the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia. Audiences can expect to catch the ads on connected TV, digital platforms, and social media.
The flagship 60-second spot will appear in U.S. cinemas, playing before blockbusters like “Wicked” and “Gladiator 2”.
The campaign was designed to resonate with both seasoned Princess cruisers and those curious about embarking on their first voyage, the company said. Key demographics targeted include digitally savvy adults, active seniors, families with teenagers and multi-generational groups.
