Adora Announces ‘Sea Eagle’ Talent Development Program

Adora Magic City

Adora Cruises recently announced the establishment of a new talent development program named “Sea Eagle.”

According to a press release, the program is a collaboration between the China-based cruise line and nine partnering colleges.

Adora Cruises will work with these institutions to explore new models for cultivating cruise talent in China, focusing on training professionals for marine operations, the company explained.

Multiple internship opportunities and entry-level positions were said to be opened by Adora in 2024, with plans calling for more roles to be created in the future.

Among the major institutions collaborating with the “Sea Eagle” program are Shanghai Maritime University, Shanghai University of Engineering Science and Baijian Vocational School.

Together, they will design cruise-related courses and employ cruise experts to provide regular instruction, cultivating talent that meets international standards in cruise operations, Adora said.

Additionally, the company is said to be implementing a model that integrates industry and education by organizing ship visits and other study-related activities for teachers and students on a regular basis.

Students who meet specific criteria will be offered internship and employment opportunities onboard the company’s ships.

“We recognize that talent is a key force driving the Chinese cruise industry to higher levels. Therefore, Adora Cruises is dedicated to cultivating high-quality cruise talent and building a talent reservoir for the Chinese cruise sector,” the company explained in its press release.

“Through the advancement of talent programs and the continuous deepening of industry-education integration, we hope to discover and nurture more potential professionals, injecting new energy into the Chinese cruise industry,” Adora added.

The company also stated that its future plans include increasing the proportion of Chinese crew members onboard its ships.

Adora Cruises currently operates the former Costa Mediterranea, in addition to the first large cruise ship built in China, the Adora Magic City.

The company is also scheduled to take delivery of a second China-built vessel, the Adora Flora City, in late 2026.
