Swan Hellenic to Offer Expedition Cruises on Brazilian Coast

Swan Hellenic in Antarctica

Swan Hellenic is adding three new expedition cruises on the Brazilian Coast to its 2024-25 deployment program.

Sailing onboard the SH Vega, the unique itineraries are scheduled to take place between late October and mid-November.

Upon repositioning from the Caribbean, the 152-guest expedition ship arrives in Salvador for a four-night expedition to the Abrolhos Archipelago.

According to Swan Hellenic, the Brazilian Maritime National Park offers “rich biodiversity, extensive coral reefs and an array of wildlife.”

Passengers will visit Siriba island, where the company is planning a shore excursion that will offer trekking and snorkeling opportunities.

Before returning to Salvador, the itinerary also features visits to two unique destinations in the Bahia state: Itacaré and Morro de São Paulo.

In early November, the SH Vega sails from Salvador for a six-night expedition itinerary to Rio de Janeiro.

In addition to a new visit to the Abrolhos Archipelago, the open-jaw cruise also features visits to Itacaré, Trancoso and Búzios.

Making its way to Antarctica, the ship completes its Brazilian sting with a repositioning cruise to Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The eight-night cruise features visits to popular ports of call in Brazil and Uruguay, such as Porto Belo and Punta del Este, as well as off-the-beaten-path destinations like Paraty and Ilha Anchieta.

According to Swan Hellenic, the latter is part of a protected area and a “nature lover’s paradise” which offers pristine beaches, hiking trails and historical significance.

Passengers will be able to “snorkel in clear waters, explore the ruins of the former prison and discover diverse wildlife.”

After arriving in Buenos Aires in late November, the SH Vega kicks off a series of expedition cruises to Antarctica.

With departures scheduled through early March 2025, the nine- to 17-night voyages sail roundtrip from Ushuaia and feature visits to destinations in the Antarctic Peninsula and the Weddell Sea.
