Saguenay Cruise Terminal Earns Biosphere Certification

A local welcome

Promotion Saguenay announced that Saguenay’s international cruise port has achieved Biosphere certification, becoming the first cruise port of call in Eastern Canada to do so, according to a press release.

“This international recognition testifies to our deep and enduring commitment to environmental protection, respect for our community, and our ongoing efforts to stimulate the economic benefits of international cruises in Saguenay,” said Priscilla Nemey, general manager of Promotion Saguenay.

“This certification reinforces Saguenay’s position as a destination of choice for environmentally conscious travelers. We have every intention of continuing along the same path, and of deploying our sustainable development strategy in order to always aim for excellence in this field. We will continue to work closely with our partners to offer our visitors a sustainable destination.”

The Biosphere certification recognizes destinations and organizations for exceptional management of sustainable development, aligned with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It reflects a commitment to integrating sustainable practices into all operations.
