Nassau Cruise Port recently welcomed students from the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) Second Chance Program for an exclusive experience, according to a press release.
Sixty students and 10 RBPF chaperones toured the cruise port, including a visit to the Bahamas Museum of Junkanoo. Presentations from the Nassau Cruise Port team, Bahari Bahamas and other community partners offered insights into their careers and highlighted entrepreneurial opportunities. The visit concluded with a sponsored lunch at Preacher’s Kid, a Bahamian restaurant within the port.
Shawn Gomez, marketing manager at Nassau Cruise Port, said: “We believe in supporting educational initiatives that inspire and empower our youth. The Second Chance Programme aligns with our commitment to support the growth and development of our community. Our team was excited to share their career stories and offer the students some exposure to the diverse range of opportunities available in the cruise and maritime sectors. We hope the experience sparked curiosity and ambition among the participants.”
Superintendent Keith Ferguson of the Royal Bahamas Police Force added: “We are sincerely thankful to the Nassau Cruise Port team for facilitating this enriching experience for our children. Exposing them to various aspects of life beyond their immediate surroundings is invaluable. The visit opened their eyes to new possibilities and reinforced the importance of perseverance and personal growth.”
The Second Chance program helps young individuals undergo personal transformation by teaching valuable lessons from past mistakes and providing new experiences. The port tour offered students an up-close view of cruise port operations and insights into careers in the maritime industry, inspiring them to envision a brighter future.
