Here Are All the New Features Coming to Royal Caribbean’s Allure

Allure of the Seas

Royal Caribbean International’s Allure of the Seas is set to undergo a major refurbishment ahead of its summer program in the Western Mediterranean.

Part of the company’s Royal Amplified program, the $100 million upgrade will add a series of new features, experiences and venues to the 2010-built ship during a drydock

According to Royal Caribbean, over 35 bars and restaurants will be available, as well as several “new thrills and ways to chill.”

Cruise Industry News looks into some key points of the refurbishment and the features being added to the Oasis-class vessel.

Pool Decks and Water Features

According to Royal Caribbean, the Allure of the Seas will debut reimagined Caribbean pool decks that feature a wider variety of seating and shade across casitas, in-pool loungers, daybeds and more.

The adults-only Solarium will also introduce new touches, including the addition of a Samba Grill and dedicated bars.

Pool Decks and Water Features

Other features coming to the Allure of the Seas include The Perfect Storm, a trio of waterslides that were first introduced in other ships in the fleet.

Included are the Cyclone and the Typhoon racing slides, as well as the SuperCell, a champagne bowl designed to max out twists and turns.

The ship’s Splashway Bay is also undergoing an upgrade, Royal Caribbean said. Aimed at tots and tweens, the pool deck will feature slides, water cannons, fountains, pools and whirlpools, plus two drench buckets.

Food and Beverage

The Allure of the Seas will also see the introduction of new food and beverage concepts, including several signature venues that are available on newer ships, such as The Lime & Coconut.

The poolside bar will be added to two locations onboard the vessel, serving a menu of beverages to the sound of live music.

El Loco Fresh is coming to the outside decks of the ship, with a menu that features tacos, burritos and quesadillas.

New F&B spaces

Making its way to Allure following a debut on the new Utopia of the Seas, the Pesky Parrot will serve a lineup of fruit-based cocktails made with rum, tequila and gin.

The menu of the Caribbean-themed tiki bar includes frozen drinks and surprises, Royal Caribbean said.

Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade is another venue being added to the Allure. Guests can catch live games on dozens of TVs, play arcade classics and order bar fare and brews.

Currently available on the Wonder and Utopia of the Seas, The Mason Jar Southern Restaurant & Bar is coming to the Allure of the Seas as well.

According to the company, the venue is a “hot spot where Southern comfort food meets Royal Caribbean’s hospitality, live country music and more.”

Family-Friendly Spaces

New family-friendly features include the ten-story Ultimate Abyss dry slide.

The Allure of the Seas is introducing the Royal Escape Room – Apollo 18: Lunar Landing. The attraction puts families and friends in the hot seat of the command center in 1973 as they look for clues and solve complex puzzles to land Apollo 18 on the moon before time runs out, Royal Caribbean explained.

Allure’s Studio B is introducing a Laser Tag experience that features glow-in-the-dark elements and competitive gameplay.

Family Friendly Spaces

The Adventure Ocean will feature a new layout that allows kids to choose their own immersive experiences, the company said.

Highlights include climbable creations at Play Place; the AO Theater; hands-on art, science, and tech activities at Workshop; physical, interactive games at Arena; the Hangout; and dedicated programs to engage all the senses for babies and younger kids.

The teen spaces will undergo a 360-degree transformation to become Social298, a venue that boasts video games, music, movies and more.

Additional Suites and More

Set to be created above the ship’s bridge, the Ultimate Panoramic Suites are new staterooms being added to the ship and will offer 200-degree ocean views, Royal Caribbean said.

Additional Suites

The Allure of the Seas is set to continue to offer all of the Oasis-class traditional experiences as well, including FlowRider surf simulators, rock climbing walls, the AquaTheater and more.

Dining venues onboard include the Schooner Bar piano bar and the Bow & Stern English pub, in addition to Giovanni’s Table Italian restaurant and the American steakhouse Chops Grille.
