Expedia Cruises has announced the signing of two new franchise agreements to extend its presence in the western United States, according to a press release.

The expansion includes new locations in Bountiful, Utah, and Boise, Idaho, marking a significant step in the company’s U.S. growth strategy.

The Bountiful, Utah franchise is set to open in late 2024, led by husband-and-wife duo Ramon and Garimirka Chaparro. Ramon, with decades of experience in finance, and Garimirka, who has a background in marketing and human resources, are first-time franchisees.

“Travel has always been one of our favorite things to do, and I wanted our next chapter to be something we were really passionate about, so joining Expedia Cruises was a no-brainer for us,” said Garimirka.

The Boise, Idaho location, expected to open in mid-2025, will be the first Expedia Cruises franchise in the state, the company said.

This franchise is owned by Mike and LesliAnn Hansen, another husband-and-wife team. Mike, who has a background in chemical engineering, and LesliAnn, who has a master’s degree in mental health counseling, were drawn to the business for its strong reputation.

Mike noted: “We love traveling and know the importance of having a travel agent with you every step of the way. There is a great need and demand for more travel agencies in Boise, so we’re excited to bring one of the world’s best and biggest travel brands to our community.”

As the appetite for travel grows, Expedia Cruises said it aims to meet the increasing demand with local expertise and personalized service.

With a strong foothold in Canada, Expedia Cruises is aggressively expanding in the U.S., particularly in the western states, which are expected to generate over $161.9 billion in franchise revenue this year, according  to IFA’s 2024 Economic Outlook Report.

The company plans to award 25 new franchises and add 2,400 vacation consultants in 2024, with a long-term goal of reaching 500 locations.
