Celebrity Flora Faces Propulsion Issues in the Galapagos

The Celebrity Flora is currently facing technical issues, according to a statement sent by the cruise line to guests.

According to the company, passengers set to embark on the ship in the near future may see itinerary adjustments due to the problems, which are affecting the propulsion speed.

Built to offer expedition cruises in the Galapagos Islands, the 100-guest vessel originally entered service in 2019.

“The Celebrity Flora is experiencing a technical issue affecting our propulsion speed, and as a result, we’ll need to make a small adjustment to our itinerary,” the company said in its letter sent to guests.

“To ensure that you’ll experience the same incredible tours and activities that make this journey so special, we’re working closely with the Galapagos National Park on each of our voyages,” the company continued.

According to the statement, the adjusted itineraries will also provide an “intimate and awe-inspiring” experience in the region, with various opportunities for wildlife encounters.

“We are confident that our slight updates to our itinerary will keep the integrity of your visit to this bucket list destination,” Celebrity added.

As the National Park confirms ship itineraries in two-week batches, the company promised to keep guests informed of the changes.

Once the new itineraries are confirmed, the company also promised to provide guests with compensation details.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and deeply appreciate your patience and understanding,” Celebrity said.

In addition to the Celebrity Flora, the company also operates the Celebrity Xpedition and the Celebrity Xploration in the Galapagos.

Later this year, the Flora will become Celebrity’s sole vessel in the region, as the Xpedition and the Xploration are handed over to Lindblad Expeditions.

Set to be renamed National Geographic Gemini and National Geographic Delfina, the vessels will enter service for their new operators between February and March 2025.
