Carnival Vista to Undergo Repairs Ahead of Upcoming Cruise

Carnival Vista

The Carnival Vista will undergo technical repairs before embarking on its upcoming cruise, which is scheduled for Aug. 18, 2024.

According to a statement shared by Carnival Cruise Line, the maintenance is aimed at fixing recent propulsion issues that led the ship to operate at a reduced speed.

“This week, our shipboard and shoreside technical teams have been working to resolve an issue that is limiting Carnival Vista’s cruising speed,” the company said in a letter to booked guests.

Currently offering an eight-night cruise to the Caribbean, the 2016-built vessel is set to return to Port Canaveral for another departure on Sunday, Aug. 18.

According to Carnival, to accommodate a repair plan, the Carnival Vista is set to return to its homeport very early in the morning.

To allow for a full day of work with the company’s engineers and technical experts, the ship is expected to dock in Port Canaveral at approximately 3:30 AM, the company added.

“We are also planning a later departure that evening to maximize the workday, but given the sea day on Monday, this will not affect our arrival time for Half Moon Cay on Tuesday, Aug. 20,” Carnival continued.

After sailing from Port Canaveral, the Carnival Vista is set to offer a six-night cruise to the Eastern Caribbean and the Bahamas.

In addition to Half Moon Cay, the itinerary features visits to Grand Turk (Turks and Caicos) and Amber Cove (Dominican Republic).

Passengers are asked to continue with their plans to get to the cruise terminal, arriving within their pre-selected arrival time slot.

“Once onboard, you’ll be able to take advantage of all the usual fun activities and entertainment that the team has going on for you, but as is customary, we’ll not be able to open certain venues and services until we enter international waters,” the company added.

Carnival also noted that the technical issue has no impact on ship operations other than the ship’s cruising speed.

Built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, the Carnival Vista first entered service in 2016. Earlier this year, the 4,000-guest ship returned to Europe for a scheduled drydock at the Navantia shipyard in Cádiz, Spain.
