Adora Cruises has announced plans to deploy its second Chinese-built cruise ship in the South China market, with delivery expected by late 2026 and international voyages commencing from Guangzhou in 2027, following a July partnership agreement with Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Home Port.
According to the company, the new ship will feature 2,144 rooms, larger public spaces, and advanced entertainment facilities compared to the Adora Magic City. It will operate out of Guangzhou, serving the South China market, and will incorporate Lingnan culture and elements of the Maritime Silk Road into its offerings.
“We’ve seen great potential from the South China market. The strategic partnership reinforces our confidence and dedication in deploying this market. We are committed to bringing unparalleled cruise journeys for more visitors, and pioneering a brand-new development model that combines culture and tourism for the cruise industry in the southern region and the entire country.” said Yang Guobing, chairman of Adora Cruises.
The company said it expects to jointly boost Guangzhou’s cruise tourism industry and co-launch a series of pilot projects with the supports from the governments of Guangzhou Municipality and Guangzhou Nansha District, as well as Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Home Port.
As the first step following the strategic partnership, the Adora Mediterranea, one of the two cruise ships in operation under Adora Cruises that has just finished its brand upgrade, is scheduled to embark on the international cruise routes with Nansha, Guangzhou as a home port starting from December 18, 2024, covering popular cruise destinations including Hong Kong (China), Vietnam, Japan, etc.
“To deploy Adora Mediterranea in Guangzhou is another critical step in deepening our strategic layout in South China. The cruise ship will further enhance its onboard experiences by blending Linnan culture and China’s intangible cultural heritage for the Southern China deployment, ” added Liu Hui, the chief executive officer of Adora Cruises.
Currently under construction, the name of the second Chinese-built cruise ship will be released soon, the company said.
