Rouen to Expand Seine River Cruise Offerings with New Viking Ship in 2025

Rouen

Rouen Tourisme announced an expansion of river cruise options in the Seine Valley with the addition of a new Viking Longship operating the route in 2025.

Purpose-built for the Seine River, the new Viking Longship will join sister ships navigating the Seine, including the Viking Fjorgyn, Viking Kari, Viking Radgrid and Viking Skaga.

The introduction of Viking’s new ship in 2025 is expected to attract more visitors to Rouen, allowing them to experience the city’s history, art and cuisine.

“We look forward to welcoming these additional guests and showcasing the best of what Rouen and the Normandy region have to offer,” stated Rouen Tourisme, the official tourism organization of Rouen.

The new ship will operate the Viking’s eight-day Paris and the Heart of Normandy itinerary.

Highlights of the itinerary include:

  • Historical Footsteps: Tracing the legacy of figures like Rollo the Viking, Joan of Arc, Richard the Lionheart and William the Conqueror. Exploring the architectural transition overseen by François I.
  • Literary Legends: Discovering the haunts of Pierre Corneille and Gustave Flaubert.
  • Artistic Heritage: Exploring the world of Claude Monet and the impressionist and post-impressionist artists and visiting the Fine Arts Museum of Rouen to see their influential works.
  • Gastronomy: Savoring the authentic Norman cuisine that has earned Rouen the UNESCO designation of a Gastronomical city.

This year, Rouen is expected to see 858 river cruise calls from various operators.
