Mein Schiff 3 Completes Ten Years in Service

Mein Schiff 3

The Mein Schiff 3 has completed 10 years of service.

As TUI Cruises’ first-ever newbuild, the vessel was delivered by the STX Finland shipyard on May 22, 2014.

The 2,500-guest ship then embarked on a series of pre-inaugural activities before setting sail on its maiden voyage in mid-June.

The inaugural cruise sailed from the German port of Hamburg and ended at the Spanish port of Palma de Mallorca.

During its maiden season, the Mein Schiff 3 offered a series of cruises departing from Malta and visiting destinations in the Adriatic Sea and the Western Mediterranean.

For its first winter program, the ship repositioned to the Canary Islands, offering cruises departing from Las Palmas.

After being floated out in November 2013, the ship was built in a record-breaking time, the yard added, using a high block outfitting ratio and modularization.

The vessel’s project focused on environmentally-friendly technology, featuring a combined exhaust gas treatment system specifically aimed at reducing emissions.

The Mein Schiff 3 is currently offering itineraries in Northern Europe sailing from the German ports of Bremerhaven and Kiel.

The four- to 12-night cruises include visits to destinations in Iceland, the British Isles, the North Sea, Scandinavia, the Norwegian Fjords and more.

Starting in October, the ship also offers 21- to 35-night roundtrip cruises to the Caribbean and the Canary Islands.

According to the company’s deployment plans, the 97,000-ton ship is set to operate similar itineraries in 2025 and early 2026.

TUI Cruises’ fleet also includes three slightly larger sister ships, the Mein Schiff 1, the Mein Schiff 2 and the Mein Schiff 7.

In 2025, the Germany-based brand is set to introduce a new ship design with the debut of the LNG-powered Mein Schiff Relax.
