American Cruise Lines announced in a press release that the American Liberty, the third new Coastal Cat in the company’s fleet, has completed sea trials.
Delivered by Chesapeake Shipbuilding, the 100-passenger ship is the latest addition to American’s Project Blue series, which includes 12 new small ships for river and coastal cruising in the U.S. Construction is underway on several more ships in this series, including the fourth Coastal Cat, the American Legend, scheduled to launch in November 2024, and four additional Patriot Class vessels.
“American Liberty is the newest ship in our fleet, reflecting our ongoing commitment to building small innovative ships for America’s rivers and coasts,” said Charles B. Robertson, president and CEO of American Cruise Lines.
The American Liberty will embark on its inaugural cruise on August 15, departing from Providence, Rhode Island, for a roundtrip journey along the New England Islands itinerary. The ship will also visit New Bedford, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard, MA; and Block Island, Newport, and Bristol, RI. Following this summer itinerary, the Liberty will operate a range of exclusive U.S. cruises along the East Coast throughout 2024.
