AIDA Cruises is set to offer solar eclipse cruises in 2026. According to a press release, guests will be able to witness the natural phenomenon from five vessels sailing in Greenland, Iceland and Spain.

The total solar eclipse is scheduled for August 12, 2026, with its peak lasting for about two minutes, the company said.

Sailing from Hamburg, the AIDAsol will be one of the ships offering a special cruise for the eclipse. According to AIDA, the vessel departs on August 7, 2026, cruising through the English Channel and the Bay of Biscay in the direction of the eclipse.

In the Western Mediterranean, the AIDAcosma and the AIDAstella will be sailing out of Palma de Mallorca at the time of the solar eclipse, the company added.

Two additional ships, the AIDAbella and the AIDAluna, will also offer eclipse cruises.

Announced along with the company’s new 2026 summer deployment, the solar eclipse cruises can be booked starting July 31, 2024.

The AIDA ships will also witness other natural phenomena in 2026, the company said, including the Perseids, a meteor shower.

According to AIDA, guests sailing on ships in the Baltic Sea, such as the AIDAdiva, will be able to experience the phenomenon between July 17 and August 24, 2026.

Passengers will have a chance to see the Aurora Borealis during 14-day voyages onboard the AIDAsol.

Named “Autumnal Northern Lights,” the sailings were conceived to increase chances of watching the phenomenon and include visits to Leknes and Bodø, the Lofoten Islands and Tromsø.

In 2026, AIDA is also celebrating the summer solstice with various northern routes onboard eight vessels.

A special highlight will be the AIDAprima voyage to the Norwegian fjords, the company said, which sails to Geirangerfjord and the Nærøyfjord.

AIDA’s complete summer program for 2026 includes approximately 450 cruises to destinations in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and the Atlantic.
