PrimePort Timaru to Get Upgraded

Plans call for new bollards to be installed at PrimePort.

“These bollards will provide high capacity moorings, which is important in the case of high winds,” said Phil Melhopt, PrimePort’s chief executive.

The New Zealand port welcomed the Maasdam earlier this year. Unfortunately, two other calls had to be cancelled due to the planned infrastructure upgrades, but four are on the books for the 2018-2019 cruise season.

“We are working on a ‘Cruise Ready’ workshop with local retailers and businesses so they can plan for future cruise visits and develop appropriate offerings,” added Melhopt.
