Guests aboard six Princess Cruises ships in Alaska will be invited to solar eclipse viewing parties as part of the Stargazing with Discovery at Sea program August 21.

The guests will witness about a 54 percent view of the eclipse. The program also provides educational opportunities.

The program was designed by Discovery at Sea Science Channel Ambassador and astrophysicist Dr. Hakeem Oluseyi. It was created to allow the crew to lead cosmic voyages from the ship’s top deck.

“Through our exclusive partnership with Discovery Communications, we’re able to offer expert tips and background from Science Channel experts that provide intriguing commentary around this rare phenomenon and for the ultimate viewing party onboard,” said Denise Saviss, Princess Cruises vice president, entertainment experiences.
