New Pier to Boost Kristiansand Cruise Profile

A new Oasis-class sized pier in Kristiansand, Norway will pay dividends as it will allow the niche port to take bigger ships.

The pier was inaugurated with its first call in late May.

The port is also offering free WiFi to guests and crew, the ability to discharge black water for cruise ships.

A port spokesperson told Cruise Industry News that Kristiansand offered a strategic location between Oslo and Bergen.

Fifty-one calls are scheduled for the 2017 cruise season, with a few more expected next year, the spokesperson said.

“We have capacity to increase the number of port calls both in high season and low-season,” he noted.
