Passenger Ship Sustainability Conference Set for Debut

Passenger Ship Sustainability
Passenger Ship Sustainability
will take place November 14-15, 2017 in Southampton, UK.

The new event, launched by Passenger Ship Safety organizer TDNUK, will provide the forum required by ship operators and industry experts to discuss how to reduce and manage the environmental impact of current and future operations, according to a statement.

The passenger shipping sector is striving to reduce and manage its environmental impact with both regulatory changes and cost-efficiency driving change, the organization said.

With the IMO set to reduce sulphur emissions and in the process of overhauling the approach to ballast water management, the organizers of Passenger Ship Safety have created Passenger Ship SustainabilitySustainability which will provide the entire maritime industry with a forum to discuss the challenges in finding cost-effective solutions and managing change.

Delegates to the meeting will explore the intricacies of designing and creating a ship that is able to satisfy customer needs while meeting all necessary legal requirements.

This will include analyzing opportunities for operators to reduce their sulphur emissions by 2020, such as using alternative fuels such as LNG and hybrid systems, utilizing effective waste management solutions and optimising ship performance.

Passenger Ship Sustainability will additionally look at how the booming market of expedition cruises can work to protect the Arctic and other protected regions

Delegates will also have the opportunity at Passenger Ship Sustainability to discover future innovations from industry representatives within the meeting agenda and during the exhibition networking breaks.
