Honduras is forecasting a 3 percent increase in cruise traffic this year, according to the Honduran Institute of Tourism, up 3 percent from last year which saw 1,052,738 cruise passengers visit.
In 2016, 341 ships called at Roatan and other Honduran ports, bringing 14.7 percent more passengers than the previous year.
According to the Institute of Tourism, 2.2 million international travelers visited the country in 2016, compared to 2.1 million in 2015. Tourism spending was estimated at $685.6 million last year, compared to $675.6 million in 2015.
As for land tourism, there are direct flights from Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Houston, Atlanta and other major cities, as well as from Madrid.
