AXIKO announced that it will supply HVAC systems for the two Star Cruises Global-class newbuilds to be built at MV Werften in Wismar, Germany.
AXIKO, a consortium established by ENGIE/Axima and KOJA Oy Marine, said the contract will employ more than 300 people in France, Germany and Finland between the start of the design phase in 2017 and the delivery of the second cruise ship in 2022.
The consortium is a unique one, and has already worked on cruise ships together, combining Koja’s HVAC knowledge with ENGIE/Axima’s experience on such large turnkey projects.
The company also said the order included two options. The ships will be 204,000 tons with capacity for over 5,000 guests.
“Koja Marine is a world leader in cost and energy efficient technology and systems for cruise vessels. Together with the global ENGIE/Axima -group we have created an unbeatable consortium which can offer the best energy efficiency, the lowest life cycle costs, and superior passenger comfort. We are very proud of our exceptional consortium,” added Matti Sippola, Managing Director of Koja Oy.
