AIDAprima Takes Center Stage in Hamburg Port Anniversary

On the 828th Hamburg Port Anniversary, AIDA Cruises celebrated one year of the AIDAprima with music and a light show. During the two days last weekend, more than a million people enjoyed Northern Germany’s largest maritime festival live in Hamburg, on television, or on social media, according to a press release.

On Saturday evening, the AIDAprima left its dock at Cruise Center Steinwerder, passed by Hamburg’s waterfront and the Elbphilharmonie, and took its exclusive position at Harbor Piers. After a light show and fireworks, the AIDAprima departed from the port and headed for the North Sea. The floating landmark has already set out from Hamburg 52 times for seven-day round-trip cruises to various cities in Western Europe, including London, Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam.

With 82 stops by six AIDA ships this year, AIDA Cruises has a strong presence in Hamburg and continues to be an important economic factor for the city.

Next year’s celebrations for the Hamburg Port Anniversary will include the AIDAperla, sister ship to the AIDAprima. Starting in March 2018, during a seven-day metropolis cruise, Hamburg will be the departure and destination port for AIDAperla. Model Lena Gercke will christen AIDA’s twelfth ship in Palma de Majorca on June 30.
