Halifax: 2016 Shaping Up to Be Strong Season

The Port of Halifax is anticipating a strong 2016, predicting some 240,000 passengers, according to Sarah Rumley, brand and marketing coordinator.

Like many ports in Canada/New England, Halifax is seeing less ships overall, but more passengers, as cruise ships continue to inch up in size.

The port’s shore power system is part of the berth booking process for cruise lines, with lines paying what Rumley called an “interrupter” rate for power – i.e.: very reasonable.

“It’s not a revenue generator for the port,” she said, “it’s a value-added service we are providing.”

Among product enhancements is WiFi in the port’s terminals and along Halifax’s boardwalk.
