Guadeloupe welcomed President of France François Hollande, who inaugurated the Memorial ACTe, devoted to the history of slavery in the western world.
The center is built on the site of Darboussier in Pointe à Pitre, where there used to be a sugar factory; construction started in May 2008.
With 83,959 square feet, the Memorial ACTe features displays, a multimedia library, work spaces for research and more, as well as a restaurant.
Guadeloupe has invested in the Memorial ACTe, considering it an important project for the islands, and also for the world.
