Fire on Oceania Ship – Three Dead

Oceania Insignia (photo: Jorge Ferreira)According to reports, an engine room fire left a crew member and two subcontractors dead on Oceania Cruises’ Insignia this morning.

According to Oceania, the fire was contained to the engine room and all passengers were evacuated safely. The ship was apparently in port when the fire started.

The rest of the cruise is cancelled while the 684-passenger ship remains in St. Lucia.

The vessel was on a 10-night cruise sailing from San Juan to Miami before a fire broke out on Thursday morning.
