Concordia Sponson Fails

The first of the sponsons that was mounted on the Costa Concordia failed earlier this week. The sponsons are key pieces in the re-floating of the Concordia wreck.

Reports said there were no injuries, and the salvage team said an internal movement of ballast water caused the sponson to slip. There was no further damage and the removal process still appears to be on-time to move the ship by the end of the summer.
