Oasis 3 Changes: Oasis 3 has been under construction since last fall at STX France, with an option for a second ship to be delivered in 2018 still yet to be picked up by Royal Caribbean International. Since holding creative and exciting events to announce features on the Quantum of the Seas, due this fall, and the Anthem of the Seas, coming in 2015, is Royal about to unveil big changes for its third Oasis-class ship?
Asia Build Up: After not taking delivery of a new ship in more than a decade, Star Cruises has suddenly ordered two new ships from Meyer Werft, for delivery in 2016 and 2017. Star may be adding tonnage just in time for a maturing Chinese market, preparing to respond to Royal Caribbean, Costa and Princess’ latest moves, or looking to replace older ships. Or, more realistically, Star may be responding to a megaship newbuild from a Western brand being placed in China within the next three years.
Show Goes Green: Attendees in Miami may think their mail was lost, as for the first time in show history badges were not mailed out prior to the event. Instead, show organizer UBM is “going green” (and saving some postage) with kiosks to print out show passes on-site.
Off Site: Over three days, events during trade show hours, seminars and nightlife entertainment have cruise industry professionals busier than ever. But perhaps not so smart are events hosted off-site during the day at Cruise Shipping Miami – taking ports and suppliers off the show floor.
