Intercruises Shoreside & Port Services sponsored the ‘Cursa del Port de Barcelona’, a 10km night run that attracted over 2000 runners. As part of its 10th anniversary celebrations, Intercruises provided the running shirts for the sold out event, in which participants had the unique opportunity to run through areas of the Port of Barcelona usually closed to the public.
The run commenced at 23:45 at the foot of Las Ramblas, before heading to the World Trade Centre and over the bridge to Barcelona’s port districts, with runners passing cruise Terminals A, B, C and D. Participants then jogged along the jutting wave-breaks by the Mediterranean Sea, enjoying the cool see breeze and sounds of crashing surf under a full moon. The final stretch saw participants jog back over the bridge and past the World Trade Center to the finish line.
“I am delighted that Intercruises could be involved in the first the ‘Cursa del Port De Barcelona’. As part of Intercruises’ 10th Anniversary celebrations it was great to support a community project related to where our business started; the Port of Barcelona.” Said Mark Robinson, Intercruises Managing Director.
A prize ceremony was held after the event for the three fastest male and female participants. The fastest male was former European Championship 3,000m silver medallist Jose Luis Blanco, with a time of 33:14. The fastest female was two time Cursa de la Mercè winner, Hasna Bohom, who finished the course in 37:40.
