The Celebrity Century made news in Sitka, Alaska, by being the first cruise ship to tie up to the port’s new deep water dock facility.
The privately-owned deep water dock facility is the only dock facility in Sitka capable of handling large cruise ships.
Sitka has historically been a tender only port. The dock features a large floating concrete platform that rises and falls with the large Alaska tides.
