Pictured: Carnival Cruise Lines’ 25,516-ton, 1,144-passenger Carnivale at Newport News in the early 1990s. The ship was built as the Empress of Britain, a trans-Atlantic ocean liner.
Carnival acquired the ship in 1976 for cruise service, and she sailed for a short time for Fiesta Marina in 1990s, another Carnival Corp. brand, also spending time with Epirotiki Line, Royal Olympic Cruises and Thomson, among others, before being scrapped in 2008.
