A group against the new cruise ship terminal in Charleston has filed a new lawsuit against federal authorities trying to block the construction of the South Carolina city’s new cruise facility.
The group has dug in since the announced plans, claiming that cruise ships bring noise, traffic and emissions – threatening the historic city.
Meanwhile, the port and city have maneuvered around the group carefully, with the Charleston Mayor recently being re-elected, with the cruise terminal being a hot topic of the election.
Charleston has volunteered to limit cruise vessel calls and has had numerous meetings, over 100, with neighborhood associations regarding the cruise business.
