Speculation coming from Chinese media regarding a cruise ship newbuild is heating up.
Rumored earlier this year by Cruise Industry News, Chinese media have again said that a 100,000-ton cruise ship is being built.
China Daily reports that the “construction on the first large luxury cruise liner in China began Wednesday in the coastal city of Xiamen.”
Little details are available, and information requests from Cruise Industry News have gone unanswered.
Other information, meanwhile, claims the ship will cost 3.1 billion yuan ($485 million) and be ready in 2018 – making it a six-year newbuild process.
