Mayor Dennis O’Keefe, Chairman of Cruise St. John’s has announced the expedition cruise ship Akademik Ioffe will arrive in St. John’s on Wednesday, July 11 at 7 a.m. and will remain in port until 6 p.m.
The Akademik Ioffe, chartered by One Ocean, will arrive in St. John’s after a nine-day cruise of the Maritimes where it will visit St. John’s, Cape St. Mary’s, Ramea, Gros Morne National Park, Anticosti Island, Bonaventure Island, Magdalen Islands, Louisbourg and Saint-Pierre & Miquelon. The cruise will end in St. John’s where 113 passengers will either stay in the City for post-cruise tours or fly home.
The next cruise will embark 70 passengers Wednesday afternoon and sailing on a 14-day trip to St. John’s, Saint-Pierre & Miquelon, Gros Morne National Park, L’Anse aux Meadows, Mealy Mountains National Park, Hopedale, Okak/Cape Mugford, Torngat Mountains National Park, Nachvak Fjord, Akpatok Island, Monumental Island and concluding in Iqaluit on July 23.
Built as a Russian research ship in 1989, the 6,450-ton Akademik Ioffe can carry 96 guests and a crew of 63.
