Costa Deliziosa Pier Incident in Bergen

According to various reports coming out of Norway, the Costa Deliziosa was involved in a pier incident in Bergen on Saturday May 21 due to high winds and strong currents while tied up at Skoltegrunnskaien (Bergen’s cruise port). The ship suffered little, if any, damage and is continuing its scheduled itinerary.

High winds and strong currents apparently snapped a bollard, and the ship pulled away from the pier, with three people on the gangway running onboard.

A large portion of the pier was damaged and will need to be repaired.

Passengers, mostly Chinese, still disembarked were tendered back to the ship,
